Troy Guerard Knight founded the Knight Law Firm in Summerville, SC, in 2002 after practicing law in other firms for 10 years. He built the firm's value system upon his deep dedication to the law, his strong commitment to community service, and on the solid foundation of his family's legacy.
His grandfather, Carl Knight, was Dorchester County, SC, Sheriff from 1960 to 1988. Before becoming the current Sheriff of Dorchester County, Troy's father, LC Knight, was a captain with the SC State Law Enforcement Division (SLED). With these men as role models, Troy followed in the Knight family tradition of community service.
In addition to being the principal of the Knight Law Firm, Troy was a Dorchester County magistrate from 1993 - 2003. He served as a Summerville Municipal Judge from 1996 through 1998.
Kelly Knight, Troy’s younger sister, joined her brother in practice in 2000, and upon Troy’s untimely death in 2004, is now the firm's owner along with David W. Whittington, who joined the firm in 2005.
Both Troy and Kelly Knight served as corporate counsel for the Town of Summerville.
